Step 1

SIZE: One size to fit average Adult’s head.
GAUGE: 13 sc and 14 rows = 4” [10 cm].
SPECIAL STITCH(ES) EXPLANATION(S):
- Hdcbp = Yoh and draw up a loop around post of next stitch at back of work, inserting hook from right to left. Yoh and draw through 3 loops on hook.
- Hdcfp = Yoh and draw up a loop around post of next stitch at front of work, inserting hook from right to left. Yoh and draw through 3 loops on hook.
- Sc2tog = Draw up a loop in each of next 2 stitches. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook

Step 2

INSTRUCTIONS:
Notes: Ch 2 at beg of row does not count as st.
Join all rnds with sl st to first st.
With A, ch 66. Join with sl st to first ch making sure not to twist ch.
Rnd 1: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each ch around. Join. 66 hdc.
Rnd 2: Ch 2. *1 hdcfp around next hdc. 1 hdcbp around next hdc. Rep from * around. Join.
Rep rnd 2 until work from beg measures 2” [5 cm].
Next Rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each hdc around. Break A. Join B.
Next Rnd: With B, ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join.
Rep last rnd until work from beg measures 7” [18 cm].
Shape Top: Rnd 1: Ch 1. *1 sc in each of next 9 sc. Sc2tog. Rep from * around. Join. 60 sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1. *1 sc in each of next 8 sc. Sc2tog. Rep from * around. Join. 54 sc.
Rnd 3: Ch 1. *1 sc in each of next 7 sc. Sc2tog. Rep from * around. Join. 48 sc.

Wind A around 4 fingers approx. 100 times. Remove from fingers and tie tightly in centre. Cut through each side of loops. Trim to smooth round shape. Attach pom-pom securely to top of hat.
