wood bead tassel ornament
Step 1 |
First, paint your wood beads as desired. Set aside to dry. |
Step 2 |
Make tassels from bamboo cord. First, cut about 12" [30.5 cm] of cord and stretch it out on your working surface. |
Step 3 |
Now, wrap cord from the skein around the palm of your hand about ten times. Cut from the skein. Carefully slide the loops off your hand without disturbing the loops. |
Step 4 |
Lay the loops, perpendicular, on top of the stretched-out cord. Tie the cord around the outside of the loops, in the middle. |
Step 5 |
Fold the loops in half so the knot is on top. Cut another cord piece that is about 6" [15.2 cm] long and wrap it around the outside of the fold loops, just below the knot. Tie a double knot, trim the excess cord and add a dab of glue to the knot. Let dry. |
Step 6 |
String the painted beads onto the long tail that is above the knot. |
Step 7 |
Tie an overhand knot at the end of the cords to make a loop to hang. Trim excess cord. |
Step 8 |
If desired, use the flat end of a bamboo skewer to add dots to some of your beads. Let dry. |
Step 9 |
Repeat for as many ornaments as you’d like. |
