two layer rainbow clay bead necklace
Step 1 |
Slice some clay from each block. Knead and condition until mouldable. |
Step 2 |
Roll some pieces into snake-like shapes. Twist to marble. |
Step 3 |
Shape into disks and stick-like beads. Use a small stylus tool to create a hole in each bead. Make sure the hole in the bead is large enough to thread hemp cord through later. |
Step 4 |
Roll a pinch of each clay into small, skinny snake-like shapes. Lay them side-by-side, parallel, and cut a circle shape. Use a small stylus tool to create a hole at the top. |
Step 5 |
Harden the beads in the oven at 110º C [230º F] for 30 minutes. Let cool. |
Step 6 |
Measure and cut the desired length for each layer of your necklace. The longer necklace should have an additional 2" [5.1 cm]. Add a few inches so you can add your findings. |
Step 7 |
Align the ends, add a generous amount of glue the push the ends into a spring coil. Let dry. |
Step 8 |
Plan the beads for each layer of your necklace, then thread them onto your cord. Add the stripe circle pendant to the middle of the bottom layer with a jump ring. |
Step 9 |
Repeat Step 7 on the other end. |
Step 10 |
Add a jump ring and a lobster clasp to one end and just a jump ring to the other end. |
