spooky halloween front porch décor
Step 1 |
First, make the spooky eyeball branches. To create the "iris" of the eyeball, take a 1.4" [3.6 cm] or 1.9" [4.8 cm] foam ball and paint a dime-sized circle outline with either the red, blue or green acrylic paint and fill it in completely using a small-tip paintbrush. Let the paint dry and repeat until the white of the foam ball is no longer visible. |
Step 2 |
Now, use a paint pen to draw a smaller circle in the centre of the painted circle to create a pupil. Repeat until you have created several eyeballs of different sizes and colours for the branches. |
Step 3 |
For the branches, in a well-ventilated area, shake the can of spray paint then hold the can about one foot away from the branch while spraying. Let the spray paint dry and then flip the branches and spray to cover the other side. Let dry. Hold the branches upright and touch up any unpainted pieces. |
Step 4 |
Use the hot glue to attach the foam eyeballs to the branches. Consider how the branches will be arranged and ensure the eyes are facing in a forward direction. |
Step 5 |
Arrange the spooky eyeball branches in two vessels, one for each side of the front door. |
Step 6 |
Next, click here to download and print the template for the paper bats; then cut out the shapes. Trace ten bats in each size on black cardstock. Cut out each bat. |
Step 7 |
Use a paint pen to freehand creepy-looking letters that spell out “KEEP OUT!” onto white cardstock for the sign. Set aside to dry. |
Step 8 |
Cut out ten wood boards from the paper roll. Lay the paper flat and follow the printed lines to cut out individual “boards” 1' - 2' [0.31 m - 0.6 m] long. |
Step 9 |
To assemble, use painter's tape to attach the “wood boards” in an erratic fashion down the door, and the bats across the top portion of the door. Attach the 'Keep Out!' sign. |
Step 10 |
Finally, hang your spooky wreath to complete the creepiest of front doors! |
