pony bead wind chime
Step 1 |
Decorate six craft sticks as desired with markers. |
Step 2 |
Arrange the sticks into a hexagon shape and allow the ends to overlap. Glue together where they overlap. Set aside to dry. |
Step 3 |
Cut a 28" [71.1 cm] piece of yarn. Fold it in half and tie a knot in the yarn about 3" [7.6 m] from the bend. Add a pony bead above the knot then tie a knot above the bead. |
Step 4 |
Cut two 20" [50.8 cm] pieces of yarn and fold them in half. Now, tie them around the knot below the beads added in Step 3. |
Step 5 |
Take five of the six strands hanging below the beads and tie them evenly around your wood hexagon. Lift by the hanger to make sure your hexagon is balanced. |
Step 6 |
String beads to the sixth strand hanging down the middle. Tie knots in the yarn as you string to create sections of beads, if desired. Tie a double (or triple) knot in the end to secure the beads and trim excess yarn. |
Step 7 |
Cut five lengths of yarn long enough for the bead strands you would like to add around the outside of your wind chime. |
Step 8 |
Tie the five yarn strands to the wood hexagon where you have tied the five strands in Step 5. |
Step 9 |
String beads on the five strands as you did in Step 6. Make sure you add beads somewhat evenly, so your wind chime stays balanced when hung. |
