Note, however, that the two geodes can vary greatly in size - which is to be expected of samples that come from nature. If you're planning on two children sharing a set, though, the size variability could be upsetting for some. Still, it's a fun learning activity

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun if it works! Very hard to crack open as they were solid, not hollow, but at least crystallized inside. First tried with a hammer and chisel, but no luck. Did the "equator" chiseling around the whole thing over and over. Switched to a crowbar instead of a chisel while Dad held the geode steady with large, long handled pliers, and it still took several strong whacks with the hammer. Finally, success!
