multi-layer heishi choker necklace
Step 1 |
First, to make the choker layer, cut 36" [91.4 cm] of transite cord. |
Step 2 |
Fold the cord in half. Slide the fold through a closed jump ring, then bring the ends up and around the outside of the jump ring and thread through the fold of the cord. Pull the ends so the lark’s head knot is tight again the jump ring. Tie a double knot below the lark’s head knot and add a dab of glue. |
Step 3 |
Add a small Gold bead to the cords and slide it up against the knot. |
Step 4 |
Now, to make the randomness of this choker much easier, pinch a small amount of each vinyl heishi bead you want to use and place them into a small cup (or bowl). Mix them up well and add additional beads in shades you feel you need more of to get the variety you want on your choker. |
Step 5 |
Once you like the way the mix looks, thread onto the cording at random for about 12"-14" [30.5 cm - 35.6 cm]. Add a small Gold bead to the end. |
Step 6 |
Tie the ends around a closed jump ring in a secure double knot. Thread ends through the Gold bead, add a dab of glue to the knot and trim excess. Set you choker aside to dry. |
Step 7 |
Repeat Steps 2-6 to make a small Gold bead layer at a little longer length. |
Step 8 |
For the vinyl heishi bead layer with a charm, cut two 24" [61 cm] transite cord lengths. Fold them in half and attach each of them to a closed 10mm jump ring with a lark’s head knot. Arrange them so the are opposite each other on the jump ring. Add a dab of glue to each knot and slide on a Gold bead. |
Step 9 |
Repeat Steps 4-5 for about 7" [17.8 cm] on each side of the jump ring. |
Step 10 |
Repeat Step 6 on each end. Let dry. |
Step 11 |
Cut a 15½" [39.4 cm] section from the chain. |
Step 12 |
To assemble, thread the jump ring from one end of each layer onto a 10mm jump ring. Add a lobster clasp and close the jump ring. |
Step 13 |
Repeat Step 12 for the other side but do not add a clasp to this side. Close the jump ring. |
Step 14 |
Finally, add a charm to the Gold ring in the centre of the vinyl Heidi layer from Step 8 and a rhinestone drop to the chain. |
