SIZES: Women’s (Men’s) FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Circumference = 19" (22½") [48 cm (57) cm] and Length = 12" (12") [30 cm (30) cm] GAUGE: 9 hdc x 6½ rows = 4" (10cm); save time and check your gauge PATTERN NOTES: Sew seam on the right side for 3” (7.5 cm), then on the wrong side for the rest of the hat so seam doesn’t show when brim is folded. INSTRUCTIONS: Ch 27. Setup Row: Hdc in 3rd ch from hk, hdc across – 26 hdc. Row 1 (WS): Ch 1, sl st in next 2 sts, sc in next st, hdc in each hdc across, turn – 24 hdc. Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc throughout), hdc in next 20 hdc, sc in next hdc, turn – 22 hdc. Row 3: Ch 1, sl st in next 2 sts, sc in next st, hdc in each hdc across, turn – 20 hdc. Row 4: Ch 2, hdc in each st across to last st, sc in last st, turn – 22 hdc, 1 sc. Rep Rows 1-4, 6 (8) more times, ending last rep at Row 3. For Women’s size only, work Rows 4 and 1, once more. Finishing: Join final row to beginning chain edge using sl st seam. Fold up brim. Gather top to close. Pom-Pom With larger pom-pom maker, make pom-pom following included instructions and filling maker with as much yarn as possible for a full pom-pom. Trim pom-pom evenly. With the felting comb, lightly brush the surface of the pom-pom until it is soft and fluffy, trim even again if needed. Tie pom-pom to top of hat. Weave in ends and lightly block. |
