Print Project

Step 1

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Height = 20" [51 cm]
GAUGE: 10 sc x 10 rows = 4"; save time and check your gauge.
SPECIAL STITCH EXPLANATIONS:
- Magic Ring: Wrap yarn around your left middle finger twice, leaving a 6" [15 cm] tail. Insert hook under both strands and pull up a loop. Ch 1, and beg working directly into centre of ring. This ring can be tightened later by pulling on the yarn tail.
- Bphdc (Back Post Half Double Crochet): Yo, insert hook from back to front to back around the post of the st and draw yarn through, yo and draw through all 3 loops on hook.
- Fphdc (Front Post Half Double Crochet): Yo, insert hook from front to back to front around the post of the st and draw yarn through, yo and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

Step 2

INSTRUCTIONS:
Legs (Make 2)
With Pecan, start with a magic ring.
Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in magic ring. Place a removeable marker on the last sc to mark the end of the rnd and begin working in a spiral.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around – 12 sc.
Rnd 3: [sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc] 6 times – 18 sc.
Rnd 4: [sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 3 times – 21 sc.
Rnd 5: [sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 3 times – 24 sc.
Rnd 6: [sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 3 times – 27 sc.
Rnd 7: [sc in next 8 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 3 times – 30 sc.
Next 6 Rnds: Sc in each sc around.
1st Leg: Fasten off, leaving marker on last sc.
2nd Leg, join to 1st leg as follows: sc in next 24 sc, sc in 24 sc of 1st Leg beginning on 4th sc after marked sc, return to 2nd leg, ready to work into the 1st sc from this round – 48 sc for body.
You will have left 6 sc unworked on each leg, this spot is left open to stuff the bear.

Step 3
Body:
Rnds 1-2: Working on the 48 sts from the legs, sc in each sc around.
Rnd 3: Sc in next 6 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc, [sc in next 10 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc] 3 times, sc in next 4 sc – 44 sc.
Rnd 4: Sc in each sc around.
Cut Pecan and change to Denim.
Rnd 5: Hdc in each sc around.
Rnds 6-7: [Fphdc around next hdc, Bphdc around next hdc] 22 times.
Rnd 8: Sc in 1st hdc, move end of round marker to this sc, sc in each st around to marked st.
Rnd 9: Sc in next 4 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc, [sc in next 9 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc] 3 times, sc in next 5 sc – 40 sc.
Rnd 10: Sc in 1st sc, move end of round marker to this sc, sc in each sc around to marked sc.

Fasten off.
Step 4
Head:
Join Pecan at centre back, to begin working at the unworked loops from Rnd 23.
Rnd 1: Sc in each sc around – 18 sc. Place a removeable marker on the last sc to mark the end of the rnd and begin working in a spiral.
Rnd 2: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 3: [Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 6 times – 24 sc.
Rnd 4: [Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 6 times – 30 sc.
Rnd 5: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 6: [Sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 6 times – 36 sc.
Rnd 7: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 8: [Sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 6 times – 42 sc.
Rnds 9-14: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 15: [Sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc] 6 times – 36 sc.
Rnd 16: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 17: [Sc in next 4 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc] 6 times – 32 sc.
Rnd 18: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 19: [Sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc] 6 times – 24 sc.
Stuff Head with Poly-fil stuffing.
Rnd 20: [Sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc] 6 times – 18 sc.
Rnd 21: [Sc in next 1 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc] 6 times – 12 sc.
Rnd 22: [Sc2tog over next 2 sts] 6 times – 6 sc.
Add additional stuffing as needed.
Cut yarn and gather last round of sc together to close top of head.
Stuff body and legs of bear through opening left during leg join. With Pecan, sew opening closed.
Step 5
Arms (Make 2)
With Pecan, start with a magic ring.
Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in magic ring. Place a removeable marker on the last sc to mark the end of the rnd and begin working in a spiral.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around – 12 sc.
Rnd 3: [sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc] 6 times – 18 sc.

Rnds 6-9: Sc in each sc around.

Cut Pecan, join Denim.
Rnd 12: Hdc in each sc around.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Muzzle
With Pecan, start with a magic ring.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around – 12 sc.
Rnd 3: [sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc] 6 times – 18 sc.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Step 6
Ears (make 2)
With Pecan, start with a magic ring.
Row 1: Work 5 sc in magic ring, turn to work in rows.
Row 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc across – 10 sc.
Row 3: Ch 1, [2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc] 5 times – 15 sc.
Row 4 (RS): Ch 1, sc in each sc across.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Finishing: Weave in ends, except for the tails left for sewing. Add stuffing to the ends of the arms for the hands, leaving the top of the arms empty. Sew arms to the body, just below the hdc rnds. Add a small amount of stuffing under the muzzle and sew to head using the photo as a guide. Sew ears to the head. With black embroider on eyes and a nose.
Weave in any remaining ends.
Step 7
