Slightly thicker than typical sockweight, and I use it frequently for everyday vanilla socks as it makes long-lasting, sturdy socks. One skein had three knots like you might get with discount/mill ends yarn, and it interrupted the striping pattern. Beware one skein is just short of enough for a pair of adult small ankle length socks.

I was looking for a matching cool color to double strand with a solid dark brown I had already in my stash. The gray brown marl was perfect! The yarn weight was increased enough to use on a mid gauge machine without being too thick for a sock and the color variations were still striking. Overall, I am very happy with the yarn selection at Michael’s.
