Print Project

Step 1

Measure and cut eighteen 12" [30.5 cm] lengths of 1 mm leather cording.

Step 2

Attach one of the lengths to each loop across the bottom of two curved connectors with a lark’s head knot.
TIP: To make a lark’s head knot, fold the leather cord in half. Push the two ends through a loop at the bottom of your metal connector. Pull the ends until the fold is close to the loop. Now, thread the two ends through the fold of your cord and pull the ends so the fold tights against the loop on the connector.

Step 3

Hold the two connectors together and add a jump ring through both loops on each side.
TIP: To open and close a jump ring, simply grasp the jump ring on both sides with chain nose pliers and twist the ring open, from side-to-side. Never pull the jump ring which can cause distortion.

Step 4

Thread a metal bead onto each end and tie an overhand knot in the cord at desired length.
TIP: To get the look in the image shown, tie the knot at about 4" [10.2 cm] in the front row of leather cords and about 6" [15.2 cm] on the back row. Trim the ends.

Step 5

Cut two pieces of 2 mm leather cording to the desired length for your necklace and cut two 8" [20.3 cm] pieces of wire.

Step 6

Thread the end of one 2 mm piece through the jump ring on one side of the fringed metal connector. Fold it up and wrap one of the wire pieces around it to secure. Smooth the end with pliers or your fingers.

Step 7

Add a dab of glue to the inside of your crimp piece, lay the end of your leather cord inside crimp and use your pliers to fold over the sides. Add a jump ring to the loop.

Step 8

Repeat Step 7 on the other side but add a lobster clasp before you close the jump ring.
