kids mountain bears diorama
Step 1 |
ADULT: Flip the lid of a shoe box so the top is facing up to make a platform for the diorama. Position the shoe box on the lid with the inside facing you at the back edge of the lid and use hot glue to secure it in place. |
Step 2 |
Paint the inside of the shoe box light blue and let dry. |
Step 3 |
Measure and cut construction paper to fit around the outside of the shoe box and adhere it to the box with the glue stick. |
Step 4 |
Cut out mountains for the background to fit along the back of the shoe box. Cut different size tall triangles with slightly round points for the mountain tops. |
Step 5 |
Trace the tops of the mountains onto the back of white glitter foam to make snow caps. Cut out and adhere to the top of each mountain, as shown. |
Step 6 |
Glue the mountains along the back of the box. |
Step 7 |
Paint clouds around the mountains with white paint, if desired. Let dry. |
Step 8 |
Use green textured foam and blue textured foam to create grass and stream. Cut out and glue to the platform of the diorama and into the shoe box. |
Step 9 |
Cut some tree/bush shapes from green textured foam and adhere on top of the base of the mountains. |
Step 10 |
Click here to download and print the templates; then cut out the pieces. |
Step 11 |
Trace the bear head and body onto brown textured foam and cut out. Glue the head to the body, then glue the body to the short clothespin. Make sure the clothespin is upside down and the wider portion is at the bottom so the bear will stand up. Glue on eyes and draw on a nose with a black marker. |
Step 12 |
Trace the fish onto orange felt. Cut out as many fish as you'd like to put in your stream. Add wiggle eyes to the fish, then glue onto the stream. |
Step 13 |
Trace the tree onto green felt and cut out. Glue the tree to a clothespin like you did in Step 11 for the bear. Add your standing tree and bear in your diorama. |
