grillin' and chillin' sign
Step 1 |
First, click here for the design in Cricut® Design Space™. |
Step 2 |
Size the design as you would like it to appear on your wood sign. |
Step 3 |
Now, click ‘Make It’ in the upper right corner and then click ‘Continue’ in the lower right corner of your screen. |
Step 4 |
Place the stencil vinyl, grid-side down, onto your cutting mat and load it into your Cricut® machine. Select your material and follow the prompts to cut out your design. Once the machine has finished cutting, gently peel the vinyl away from your mat. Repeat for the red vinyl layer. |
Step 5 |
Cut apart the words so they are all separate pieces. Next, use your weeder tool to peel away the vinyl from inside of the words. When you’re done, only the design itself should be left on the backer paper. Be sure to leave vinyl around the words for stenciling. |
Step 6 |
Cut a piece of transfer tape that’s just a bit larger than the word "Grillin". Peel away the tape’s backer paper and place the tape, sticky-side down, over this part of the design. Burnish the vinyl so that it’s completely stuck to the tape. |
Step 7 |
Now, gently peel the white backer paper from the cut-out design, which now should be stuck to the transfer tape. |
Step 8 |
Hold the transfer tape with the design over your surface to determine where you’d like it placed. Now, press it onto your surface. Burnish the vinyl once more to make sure it’s completely stuck to the surface and gently peel away the transfer tape, leaving the vinyl transferred to your surface. |
Step 9 |
Trace around the inside of the letters using a pencil, then remove the stencil vinyl. |
Step 10 |
Follow the instructions included with your wood burning tool. Wood burn the word using your rounded shading point. |
Step 11 |
Next, apply the stencil vinyl for the word "Chillin" following the instructions in Steps 6-8. Apply paint over the words using a paintbrush. Remove the stencil vinyl and let the paint dry. |
Step 12 |
Repeat Steps 6-8 to attach the red circle with transfer tape. |
Step 13 |
Turn your plaque over and use a staple gun to attach jute for a hanger on the back. |
Step 14 |
Finally, turn your plaque back over and screw in the cup hooks along the bottom of the front of your plaque. |
