Step 1 |
First, open Cricut® Design Space™ and click ‘New Project’. |
Step 2 |
Click on the ‘Text’ icon in the left side of your screen. Type the initial for the family name. Choose your font and size to fit the height of the front of your pumpkin. |
Step 3 |
Click on the ‘Text’ icon again and type the family name. Choose your font and size to fit the front of your pumpkin, across the centre of the large initial. |
Step 4 |
Click on the ‘Text’ icon in the left side of your screen. Type “est.” and the desired date. Use the same font at the large initial and size to fit, in the centre, below the family. |
Step 5 |
Once the family name and the “est.” is in the centre, select both designs and click ‘Attach’ I the bottom right corner of your screen. |
Step 6 |
Now, click ‘Make It’ in the upper right corner and then click ‘Continue’ in the lower right corner of your screen. |
Step 7 |
Place the first colour of vinyl that is shown in the preview panel, grid-side down, onto your cutting mat and load it into your Cricut® machine. Select the correct material for the first mat and follow the prompts to cut out your design. |
Step 8 |
Once it is done cutting, unload your mat. Gently remove the vinyl and add the second vinyl to the mat. Change the material and follow the prompts to cut out the rest of your design. |
Step 9 |
Use scissors to cut around your design, removing from the vinyl roll. Next, use your weeder tool to peel away the remaining negative space surrounding the initial, family name and “est.”. When you’re done, only the design itself should be left on the backer paper. |
Step 10 |
Cut a piece of transfer tape that’s just a bit larger than the large initial. Peel away the tape’s backer paper and place the tape, sticky-side down, over the initial. Burnish the vinyl so that it’s completely stuck to the tape. |
Step 11 |
Now, gently peel the white backer paper from the initial, which now should be stuck to the transfer tape. |
Step 12 |
Hold the transfer tape with the word over the front of your pumpkin. Make sure it is straight; then press it onto your pumpkin. Burnish the vinyl once more to make sure it’s completely stuck to the surface and gently peel away the transfer tape, leaving the vinyl transferred to your pumpkin. |
Step 13 |
Repeat Steps 10-12 to add the family name and “est.” |
