decorative stenciled wood crate

Stain a crate and add a decorative element for a perfect solution to store warm blankets and pillows in your home.
Step 1

Apply dark stain to the wood crate with a clean soft cloth. Rub the stain into the wood, let the stain sit on the wood for a little bit then use a clean part of the cloth to buff off any extra stain that was not absorbed. Let the crate dry for at least one hour.

Step 2

Un-peel the stencil backing and place it on the side of your stained crate. Rub over the stencil with your fingers to make sure the stencil is completely smooth to the surface to prevent paint from seeping to unwanted areas.

Step 3
Pour some paint onto a paper plate (or palette paper). Load a stencil brush with paint and, working in thin layers, dab the paint over the open stencil areas. Apply a second thin coat as needed. Let dry.
