This project is intended for kids 4+. Back to school time is exciting! What a better way to capture the moment than to make a school bus frame for your first day of school photo. Craft sticks, paint and glue come together to make this cute keepsake. Step 1 Lay two craft sticks, vertically, on your work surface, about 3" [7.6 cm] apart. Now, stack two craft sticks, horizontally, across the top, side by side. Glue into place. Step 2 Measure up from the bottom of the vertical craft sticks about 1" [2.5 cm] and make a mark. Now, stack three craft sticks, horizontally, side by side, starting at the mark and building up. Glue in place. Let dry. TIP: ADULT: Hot glue the craft sticks in place to help speed up the drying time. Step 3 Paint the entire school bus yellow, except the two 1" [2.5 cm] pieces at the bottom of the bus. Step 4 Paint the two 1" [2.5 cm] pieces at the bottom black for the tires. Step 5 Add any painted details such as lights, etc. For warning lights on your bus, paint two small circles red, then add red glitter glue. Let dry. TIP: Use the image as a guide. Step 6 Glue on two clear gems for the bus’s headlights. Step 7 Cut a piece of Silver glitter foam about ¾" x 1½" [1.9 cm x 3.8 cm] for the grill on the front of the bus. Stick it in place. Draw black lines horizontally across the foam to add detail. Step 8 Finally, cut a piece of paper to fit across the top of the bus. TIP: You can write your grade on it and glue it to the top of the bus. Share your project photos with #MakeItWithMichaels |
