Your pup will be looking dapper in this mock cable and tweed sweater. Knit in Craft Smart® Value™ Tweed, the whole sweater is worked in ribbing to make sure it fits dogs of many sizes and builds.

Print Project

Step 1

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:

  • Chest Circumference = 17 (20-24)" [43 (51-61) cm]
  • Neck Circumference = 12 (15-17)" [30.5 (38-43) cm]
  • Back Length = 10 (14-17)" [25.5 (35.5-43) cm]
GAUGE: 20 sts x 28 rows = 4" (10 cm) in back pattern st, lightly stretched; save time and check your gauge

SPECIAL STITCHES: 1x1 Ribbing (multiple of 2 sts): *K1, p1; rep from * across. Repeat every row.

QUANTITY NEEDED: 2 (2-3) - Craft Smart® Value™ Tweed Yarn – Navy
Step 2

INSTRUCTIONS:

Back

Cast on 50 (66, 74) sts.
Rows 1 & 3 (WS): *P2, k2; rep from * to last 2 sts, p2.
Row 2 (RS): *K2, p2; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2.
Row 4: K2, *p2, skip 1 st and knit the second st in back loop, then knit the skipped st in front loop, slip both sts from the left needle together, p2, k2; rep from * across.
Repeat Rows 1-4 until back measures 10 (14, 17)" [25.5 (35.5, 43)cm], ending with a WS row.
Bind off.
Place markers along both long edges, measuring from the bind off edge, at 3 (3, 4¼)" [7.5 (7.5, 10.75)cm] and then 3 (4, 5)" [7.5 (10, 12.75)cm] after the first set of markers to mark the leg opening for seaming.

Chest Panel

Cast on 36 (36, 46) sts.
Work in 1x1 Ribbing for 1½" (3.75cm). Place a marker at both ends of the row to mark the beginning of the leg opening.
Work in 1x1 Ribbing until the panel measures a total of 5½ (6½, 8)" [14 (16.5, 20.5)cm]. Place a marker at both ends of the row to mark the end of the leg opening.

Shape Panel

Bind off 2 sts at the beginning of the next 12 (12, 17) rows – 12 sts remain.
Bind off remaining sts.

Collar

Seam one edge of the Back to the Front Panel starting at the bind off edges, to the first marker on each side.
Along the bind-off edge pick up and knit 62 (72, 86) sts.
Row 1 (WS): *P2, k2; rep from * to last 2 sts, p2.
Row 2 (RS): *K2, p2; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2.
Repeat Rows 1-2 for 4 (6, 6)" [10 (15, 15)cm].
Bind off loosely.

Finishing: Seam Collar and side seam to 1st set of markers on that side. Seam both side seams starting at 2nd set of markers (chest panel will have more length left for the leg opening) to the end of the Chest Panel. Weave in ends.
