The material I was sewing was lame’, which is not an everyday sewing material for me. I did some research and took the advice to “use a backing”. It has some give, so it doesn’t break as easily, and it was thin enough to travel smoothly through my sewing machine. Every once in a while it would get caught and unravel, but in general it was exactly what I needed. Pairs well with metallic bias tape.
