Print Project

Step 1

MEASUREMENTS: Approx 50" x 60" [127 cm x 152.5 cm] excluding fringe.
GAUGE: 11 sts and 23 rows = 4" [10 cm] in garter st.

Step 2

INSTRUCTIONS:
Cast on 138 sts. Do not join. Working back and forth across needle in rows, proceed as follows:
Knit in rows (garter st), noting 1st row is ws, until work from beginning (beg) measures 60" [152.5 cm], ending on a rs row. Cast off knitwise ws.
Fringe (See Diagrams) Work across cast on and cast off edges. Cut strands of yarn 24" [61 cm] long. Taking 6 strands together (tog), fold in half and knot into fringe approx every 2½" [6.5 cm] evenly across rs, including 1 fringe at each corner of Blanket, noting each knotted section has 12 strands.
1st Knotted Row: Divide each knotted section into 2 groups of 6 strands. Skip first group. **Taking left-most group from next knotted section and right-most group from previous knotted section, wrap 1 strand of yarn around these 12 strands 6 times 1½" [4 cm] down from each knot so that wrapped yarn is in the centre. Knot to fasten securely. Continue across in this manner, taking left-most group of strands from next knotted section and right-most group of strands from previous knotted section, wrapping and knotting to secure **, noting first and last 6-strand groups are not wrapped.
2nd Knotted Row: Divide each knotted section into 2 groups of 6 strands. Taking first skipped group from 1st Knotted Row, and left-most group of strands from next knotted section, wrap 1 strand of yarn around these 12 strands 6 times 3" [7.5 cm] down from first knot. Knot to fasten securely. Repeat from ** to ** for 1st Knotted Row across to last 2 groups. Taking final skipped group from 1st Knotted Row and right-most group from previous knotted section, wrap 1 strand of yarn around these 12 strands 6 times 3" [7.5 cm] down from last knot. Knot to fasten securely.
Trim ends of fringe evenly.
