bernat® softee® chunky™ twist™ a little bit loopy crochet pillow

A lot of loop goes a long way in this textural extravaganza! Crochet loop stitches worked in touchable Bernat® Softee® Chunky™ Twist adorn the front of this playful pillow. The back is worked in simple single crochet stitches with a slash opening, making this pillow an easy-to care for addition to your home.

Print Project

Step 1

MEASUREMENT: Approx 20” [51 cm] square
GAUGE: 8 sc and 9 rows = 4” [10 cm]
SPECIAL STITCH:
- Lp St (Loop Stitch): (worked on WS) = Insert hook in next stitch. Wrap working yarn over top of index finger, from front to back, to form 2½” [6 cm] loop. Placing tip of hook behind yarn at front of index finger, Yoh and draw up a loop onto hook. Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook, dropping loop off index finger to back of work (see diagram). Loop will be formed on RS of work.

Step 2

INSTRUCTIONS:
FRONT
Ch 40.
Row 1: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of ch. Turn. 39 sts.
Row 2: Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. 1 Lp st in each sc to last sc. 1 sc in last sc. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 1. 1 sc in each st across. Turn. Rep 2nd and 3rd rows until work from beg measures 20” [51cm], ending on a 3rd row.
Fasten off.
BACK (Make 2 Pieces Alike)
Ribbing: Ch 6.
Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Turn. 5 sc.
Row 2: Ch 1. Working in back loops only, 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Rep last row until work from beg (when slightly stretched) measures 20" [51 cm]. Do not fasten off. Proceed as follows:
Row 1: Turn work sideways. Ch 1. Work 39 sc evenly along side of Ribbing. Turn. PM at end of row.
Row 2: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Rep last row until work from marker measures 11" [28 cm]. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Joining Front and Back: Overlap Back pieces to match Front, with ribbed sections in centre to create opening to insert pillow form. With RS facing, join yarn with sl st to any corner st of Pillow. Ch 1. Working through all thicknesses, work sc evenly around 4 sides of Pillow, having 3 sc in each corner. Join with sl st in first sc.
Fasten off.
Insert pillow form.
