Step 1

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Approx 22” [56 cm] square

GAUGE: 12 sc and 14 rows = 4” [10 cm]. Take time to check your gauge.

SPECIAL EXPLANATION:

Double-loop-st = Wrap yarn around index finger twice and hold behind work, insert hook into indicated stitch and between the yarn wraps and your finger, remove your finger from wraps and draw wraps through stitch (leaving part of each wrap on other side of fabric to form loops), yarn over and draw through all loops on hook.

Note: Loops form on side of fabric that is facing away from you


INSTRUCTIONS:

FRONT

Ch 2.

Rnd 1: (WS). (Double-loop-st. Ch 2) 4 times, all in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first st.

Rnd 2: Ch 1. *Double-loop-st in next st. (Double-loop-st. Ch 2. Double-loop-st) all in next ch-2 sp. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first st.

Rnd 3: Ch 1. *Double-loop-st in each st to ch-2 corner sp. (Double-loop-st. Ch 2. Double-loop-st) all in next ch-2 sp. Rep from * 3 times more. Double-loop-st in each st to end of rnd. Join with sl st to first st.

Rep Rnd 3 until a total of 21 rnds have been worked.

Next Rnd: Ch 1. *1 sc in each st to ch-2 corner sp. (1 sc. Ch 2. 1 sc) in next ch-2 sp. Rep from * 3 times more. 1 sc in each st to end of rnd. Join with sl st to first st.

Rep last rnd until work measures 22” [56 cm] across.

Fasten off.

Step 2

BACK (make 2)

Ch 11.

Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch across. Turn. 10 sc.

Row 2: Ch 1. Working in back loops only, 1 sc in each sc to end of row.

Rep Row 2 until work from beg (when slightly stretched) measures 22” [56 cm]. Do not fasten off.

Row 1: (RS). Turn work sideways. Ch 1. Work 66 sc evenly across side of ribbing. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.

Rep Row 2 until work from beg measures 13½” [34 cm].

Fasten off.

FINISHING:

Overlap back pieces to match Front, with ribbed sections in center to create opening to insert pillow form. Sew outer edge seams.
