Step 1

SIZE: One size to fit baby 3-6 months.
GAUGE: 15 sc and 16 rows = 4” [10 cm], take time to check your gauge.
SPECIAL STITCH(ES) EXPLANATION(S):
- Sc2tog = Draw up a loop in each of next 2 sc. Yoh and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

Step 2

INSTRUCTIONS:
With MC, ch 33 loosely.
Row 1: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Turn. 32 sc.
**Row 2: Ch 1. Sl st in first sc. 1 sc in each sc to last 7 sc. 1 sl st in each of last 7 sc. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 1. 1 scbl in each of first 7 sl st. 1 sc in each sc to last sc. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked (sc and sl st).
Rep last 2 rows 4 times more.
Next row: As Row 2.
Next row: Ch 1. 1 scbl in each of first 7 sc. 1 sc in each sc to last sc: (1 sc in next sc. 1 sc in next sl st) 5 times. Turn. 32 sc.**
Rep from ** to ** once more.
SHAPE FACE OPENING:
UPPER PART:
Row 1: Ch 1. Sl st in first sc. 1 sc in each of next 14 sc. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked.
***Row 2: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to last sc. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked (sc and sl st).
Row 3: Ch 1. Sl st in first sc. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Rep last 2 rows twice more.***
Next Row: (RS). Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to last sc. Working to end of row: (1 sc in next sc. 1 sc in next sl st) 4 times. Turn. 15 sc.
Next Row: Ch 1. Sl st in first sc. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.

LOWER PART:
With WS facing, working across rem sts of Main Body, skip next 7 sts. Join yarn with sl st to back loop of next sc.
Row 1: (WS). Ch 1. Sc2tog. 1 sc in next sc. 1 sl st in each of last 7 sc. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 1. 1 scbl in each sl st to last 2 sts. Sc2tog. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 1. Sc2tog. 1 sl st in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Row 4: Ch 1. 1 scbl in each sl st to end of row. Turn.
Row 5: Ch 1. 1 sl st in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Rep last 2 rows 3 times more.
Next Row: (RS). Ch 1. 1 scbl in each sl st to last sl st. 2 scbl in last sc. Turn.
Next Row: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sl st in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Joining Row: (RS). Ch 1. 1 scbl in each sl st to last 2 sc. 1 sc in next sc. 2 sc in last sc of Lower Part. Ch 7. Working across Upper Part: 1 sc in each sc to last sc. Working to end of row: (1 sc in next sc. 1 sc in next sl st) 4 times. Turn. 32 sc.
Rep from ** to ** as given above twice more. Do not fasten off.
FINISHING:
Pick up rem loop. Working through both thicknesses, crochet back seam. Weave yarn through last sl st of each row along top edge. Gather tightly and fasten securely.
EARS (Make 2 Outer Ears with MC and 2 Inner Ears with A):
Ch 9.
Row 1: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Turn. 8 sc.
Row 2: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Rep last 2 rows 10 times more.
Next Row: Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. Sc2tog. 1 sc in each sc to last 3 sts. Sc2tog. 1 sc in last sc. Turn.
Rep last row until there are 4 sts.
Next Row: Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. Sc2tog. 1 sc in last sc. Turn.
Next Row: Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. Sc2tog. Fasten off.
With WS of inner ear and outer ear tog, join MC with sl st at bottom corner of ears. Ch 1. Working through both thicknesses, work in sc evenly around edge of ears. Do not fasten off. Fold ears at foundation chains, having inner ear inside and crochet over hat in position (as shown). Fasten off. Weave in ends.
