beaded rainbow shadow box
Step 1 |
First, plan your rainbow so you know how many to dye for each arch. |
Step 2 |
In separate disposable cups, add dye and dilute with water for desired shade. Drop in wood beads and set aside for a couple of hours. Use a craft stick to stir occasionally, so you get an even tint; then rinse and lay out on paper towels to dry. |
Step 3 |
Cut three lengths of yarn a few inches longer than needed for each arch. Thread onto a plastic needle then string the beads for each arch. |
Step 4 |
Tie a knot on one end of each strung arch. |
Step 5 |
Shape your arches in your rainbow then tie a knot on the other side of each arch. |
Step 6 |
Hot glue each arch in place to create your rainbow. |
Step 7 |
Clean the inside and outside of your glass with household glass cleaner. |
Step 8 |
Click here for the design in Cricut® Design Space™. |
Step 9 |
Now, click ‘Make It’ in the upper right corner and then click ‘Continue’ in the lower right corner of your screen. |
Step 10 |
Place the first layer of vinyl, grid-side down, onto your cutting mat and load it into your Cricut® machine. Select ‘Vinyl’ as your material and follow the prompts to cut out your design. Once the machine has finished cutting, carefully peel the vinyl away from your mat. |
Step 11 |
Use scissors to cut away the vinyl around your design. Next, use your weeder tool to peel away the remaining negative around, and within, your design. When you’re done, only the design itself should be left on the backer paper. |
Step 12 |
Cut a piece of transfer tape that’s just a bit larger than the design. Peel away the tape’s backer paper and place the tape, sticky-side down, over the bottom layer of your design. Burnish the vinyl so that it is completely stuck to the tape. |
Step 13 |
Now, gently peel the white backer paper from the cut-out design, which now should be stuck to the transfer tape. |
Step 14 |
Hold the transfer tape with the design over your surface to determine where you’d like it placed. Press it onto your surface. Burnish the vinyl once more to make sure it’s completely stuck to the surface and gently peel away the transfer tape, leaving the vinyl transferred to your surface. |
