3d paper honeycomb ornament
Step 1 |
Using the large circle punch, punch out six green circles and six red circles. Fold each circle in half. |
Step 2 |
Stack them on top of one another in this order: red, green, green, red, red, green, green, red, red, green, green, red. |
Step 3 |
Wrap a length of twine all the way around the stack, so that it runs along the fold. Make sure the twine is tight and tie a knot to hold all the circles together. Leave at least 3" [7.6 cm] of twine at the top of the circles. You can use the excess jute later to make a hanger at the top. Set aside. |
Step 4 |
Make a tassel using the red, white and green twine. Wrap the twine around your hand about 20 times, then carefully slide it off. Tie a piece of twine through the loops leaving a tail about 2" [5.1 cm] long. Now, grasp the loops in one hand and tie jute about ½" [1.3 cm] from the top (where you tied the loops) around all the loops and tie a knot. Cut open the loops, then trim to size to make your tassel. |
Step 5 |
About 1/3 of the way up from the bottom of one circle, add a dot of hot glue and glue the circle next to it together at the bottom. Now, on that next circle, measure about 1/3 of the way down from the top, add a dot of hot glue and glue the circle next to it together at the top. Alternate this method all the way around. When you get about halfway around, insert the tail at the top of the tassel between circles and glue, then continue gluing the rest of the ornament. |
Step 6 |
Finish the ornament off by making a hanging loop at the top with the twine. |
