yarn macramé wall hanging
Step 1 |
Cut the wooden dowel to about 24" [61 cm]. |
Step 2 |
Cut two 36" [91.4 cm] strands of white Alpaca™ yarn and one 36" [91.4 cm] strand of Carousel yarn. Set them aside. |
Step 3 |
Cut about 24 120" [304.8 cm] strands of Carousel yarn and 12 120" [304.8 cm] strands of white Alpaca™ yarn. |
Step 4 |
Attach the strands to the 36" [91.4 cm] piece of Carousel yarn, set aside in Step 2, using a lark’s head knot. |
Step 5 |
Tie each end of the 36" [91.4 cm] yarn piece to each end of the wood dowel. Now, trim and shape the yarn to hang as desired. |
Step 6 |
Thread wood beads onto one of the white 36" [91.4 cm] yarn strands, set aside in Step 2. Tie to the wood dowel next the where you attached the Carousel strand. Tie it so it hangs just above the yarn strands. |
Step 7 |
Cut two 120" [304.8 cm] pieces of yarn from each colour of cotton yarn. Determine the order of the chevron and attach them towards the centre of the wood dowel with a lark’s head knot in that order. |
Step 8 |
With the Soft Ecru (A) and Tea Rose (B) strands on the left, make a forward overhand knot with A over B. Repeat for a second knot. |
Step 9 |
Repeat Step 8 with the A strands over the Hot Pink (C) strands and again with the A strand over the Beach Glass (D) strands, Light Blue (E) strands and Hot Purple (F) strands. Remember to knot each one twice. |
Step 10 |
Now, repeat Steps 8-9 with the A strand on the right side, but this time, make backward overhand knots across the B-F strands, until it moves to the centre. |
Step 11 |
Once you have both A strands in the centre, make two backward overhand knots to join the two sides, as well as, make the point of your chevron. |
Step 12 |
Repeat Steps 8-11 with the B strand. Continue this pattern until you reach the desired length. |
Step 13 |
At the end of your chevron knots, Trim the floss so they are clean at the ends. |
Step 14 |
Tie the last 36" [91.4 cm] strand to the wood dowel to use as a hanger. |
