uniquely yours found objects necklace

Gather items collected or found on your travels, such as coins, pearls, a key or any found objects and create a necklace that is completely unique and personal!
Step 1

First, remove the lobster clasp and jump rings from each chain. Set aside the jump rings and one of the lobster clasps.
TIP: You will only use one of the lobster clasps so you can store the other two for a future project.

Step 2

Cut the Silver chain in two sections: one 13½" [34.3 cm] section and one 4½" [10.8 cm].

Step 3

Cut a 12½" [31.8 cm] and a ½" [1.3 cm] section from the black chain. Discard excess (or save for a future project).

Step 4

Cut a 11½" [29.2 cm] section from the Gold chain and discard excess (or save for a future project).

Step 5

Open one of the Silver jump rings, slide one end of the longest Gold, Black and Silver chains, as well as the Silver lobster clasp; then close the jump ring.
TIP: Be sure to slide the chains in descending order onto the jump ring so they hang right when wearing.

Step 6

Attach the other end of the chains to an 8mm Silver jump ring from the connector pack. Set the connected chains aside.

Step 7
Now, create the bead drops. Make two with pearls and one with a large crystal bead. To do this:
  • Slide a bead onto headpin.
  • Bend the wire of the headpin in a 90° angle just above the bead.
  • Grasp the headpin wire, about 3/8"-½" [0.3 cm-1.3 cm] from the bend, between the jaws of your round nose pliers.
  • Rotate the pliers toward you, keeping a firm grip on the wire, until a small loop is formed. Trim excess wire.
Step 8

If you have an old coin, punch a hole at the top with a steel hole punch. Add a Copper jump ring (set aside in Step 1) to the hole, along with a pearl drop, made in Step 7.

Step 9

Attach the second pearl drop to a large Copper key with a black jump ring (set aside in Step 1).

Step 10

Attach a Gold jump ring (set aside in Step 1) to the top of the ½" [1.3 cm] section of black chain and the other Gold jump ring (set aside in Step 1) along with the crystal drop (from Step 7) to the other end.

Step 11

Attach the other Silver jump ring to one end of the 4½" [10.8 cm] Silver chain. On the other end of the chain, attach a metal patina circle with one of the jump rings that comes with the metal circle. Keep another jump ring from the metal circle strand in bottom hole.

Step 12

Open another 8mm Silver jump ring (from the connector pack), slide on the jump ring at the top of the coin/pearl charm, the Gold jump ring at the top of the black chain/crystal drop, the 8mm jump ring at the end of the connected chains and the Copper jump ring on the large Copper key (with the pearl drop). Now, slide this jump ring onto the Copper jump ring at the bottom of the metal patina circle and close the jump ring to complete your necklace.
