round macramé necklace
Step 1 |
First, cut your bamboo cords: |
Step 2 |
Make a sliding knot about 10" [25.4 cm] from one end of your 50" [127 cm] cord. |
Step 3 |
Tape this working cord, just above the loop, to your working surface. |
Step 4 |
Now, take one of your 15" [38 cm] cords and fold it in half. Place your looped end under the string of your main circle, pull the strands through to complete a lark’s head knot. |
Step 5 |
Repeat with the remaining 15" [38 cm] cords; then, pull the long end of your working cord to tighten the slip knot. This is the centre of your macramé piece. |
Step 6 |
Lay the working cord over your next cord and tie a half hitch. Make a second half hitch knot with the same cords. |
Step 7 |
With the next cord, repeat Step 6. |
Step 8 |
Work around the centre circle working two half hitch knots per cord until the circle is 1" [2.54 cm] in diameter. |
Step 9 |
You will need to add more cords when you start to see gaps between your cords. To do this, simply tie on 10" [25.4 cm] cord with a lark’s head knot and continue with your half hitch knots. Add cords as needed. |
Step 10 |
Place the circle inside an oxidized Gold connector. |
Step 11 |
To connect your macramé piece to the metal piece, tie the excess cords, evenly, around the metal in a lark’s head knot. |
Step 12 |
Unravel the excess strands and comb out the ends. |
Step 13 |
Prepare the yellow dye in a disposable cup and submerge your piece in the dyebath as directed on the package. Rinse thoroughly and lay flat to dry. |
Step 14 |
Comb out ends again and trim around the circle, so the ends are even. |
Step 15 |
Add a jump ring to your macramé pendant then add to a chain. |
