loops & threads® cozy wool™ merino mock cable hat

This warm and cosy hat is the perfect project for beginners or if you are new to knitting cables. Knit in mock cable stitch, this hat is a quick and simple accessory to stitch. One ball of Loops & Threads® Cozy Wool Merino is all you need for your very own gorgeous mock cable hat!
Step 1

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Circumference = 18¼" (20½", 22¾") [46 cm (52 cm, 58 cm)] and Height = 9½" (10", 11”), [24 cm (25 cm, 28 cm)].
GAUGE: 21 sts x 27 rnds = 4” [10 cm] in pattern, save time and check your gauge.
PATTERN NOTES: Hat is worked from the bottom up in the round.
SPECIAL STITCHES:
1. K1, P1 Rib in the Rnd: (Even number of sts).
2. Every Rnd: *K1, p1; rep from * around.
3. RT (Right Twist): K2tog but do not drop sts from left-hand needle; insert right hand needle between 2 sts just worked and knit first st again, slip both sts from left-hand needle together.
4. Mock Cable Rib in the Rnd (Multiple of 4 sts).
Rnd 1: *K1, RT, p1; rep from * around.
Rnds 2 and 4: *K3, p1; rep from * around.
Rnd 3: *RT, k1, p1; rep from * around.
- Rep Rnds 1-4 for pattern.

Step 2

INSTRUCTIONS:
Cast on 96 (108, 120) sts, pm and join to work in the rnd being careful not to twist. Work even in K1, P1 Rib until piece measures 2” [5 cm] from cast-on edge. Switch to larger needle and work even in Mock Cable Rib in the Rnd until piece meas 8½" (9", 10") [22 cm (23 cm, 25 cm)] from cast-on edge, ending having worked Rnd 2 of Mock Cable Rib in the Rnd.
Crown Shaping:
NOTE: When sts no longer fit comfortably on circular needle, switch to double point needles.
Rnd 1: *K2tog, k1, p1; rep from* around – 72 (81, 90) sts.
Rnd 2: *K2, p1; rep from * around.
Rnd 3: *K2tog, p1: rep from * around – 48 (54, 60) sts.
Rnd 4: *K1, p1; rep from * around.
Rnd 5: *K2tog; rep from * around – 24 (27, 30) sts.
Rnd 6: K0 (1, 0), *k2tog; rep from * around – 12 (14, 15) sts.
Rnd 7: K0 (0, 1), *k2tog; rep from * around – 6 (7, 8) sts.
Finishing: Cut yarn leaving a long tail. Thread tail onto tapestry needle and draw through remaining sts. Weave in ends.
