kids chenille woven art
Step 1 |
Begin with one wood dowel and ten white chenille pipe cleaners. Wrap one end of each chenille pipe cleaner around the wood dowel, side by side. |
Step 2 |
Lay the dowel and warp flat on your work surface. Now, weave the chenille pipe cleaners through the warp (the white chenille pipe cleaners hanging down from the wood dowel) by alternating over and under each one. Bend the excess around to the back. Add another chenille pipe cleaner alternating under and over the warp. If you went under one of the white chenille pipe cleaners before, then the next time it will be over. Continue this as far down as you'd like. |
Step 3 |
Now, turn the whole piece over. Twist and bend the excess chenille pipe cleaners on the back to secure them in place. Turn the piece back over so the front is facing you. |
Step 4 |
Slide a pony bead onto each of the white chenille pipe cleaners, then twist the excess around a pencil to make a coil. Slide the pencil out and slightly stretch out the coil. Repeat this for all of the white chenille pipe cleaners. |
Step 5 |
To make a hanger for your woven art, wrap one end of the chenille pipe cleaner around one end of the wood dowel and the other end of the pipe cleaner around the other end of the wood dowel. |
