Homespun has been a beloved Lion Brand yarn for over twenty years. Crafters love it for its softness, the painterly palettes, and subtle texture. This American Made chunky weight yarn is perfect for afghans and has been embraced as the go to yarn for "community shawls" to make and give to people in need. Now, Lion Brand is introducing the same classic yarn in a new easy-to-use cake put up in twelve mouth watering self-striping shades. This new put-up was created to prevent tangles as you work with the generous 185 yards in the same 6 oz. crafters already know and love. And with the smaller size of the cake, there will be more room on your yarn shelves to stash every colour.

We understand the importance of dye lots and will try to match dye lots for your order, however, we cannot guarantee all skeins will be the same dye lot.

I find the new cakes more economical than the regular skeins & love the colors blend into each other. Recently I made myself an infinity scarf with "Nursery" & have been getting many compliments on the pretty colors & how well it lies.

The scarf is fine but I was disappointed that I couldn't make a fringe at the end because the yarn frays badly. So, I have my scarf but it looks unfinished without a fringe. Will check closer next time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty color, best with large needles The color is gorgeous and the yarn works best on large needles in my opinion. I bought this intending to make a honeycomb cowl. I had to frog it after several rows because the yarn was just too tough to work with for me. I’m not the most experienced knitter, so I need to be able to clearly see what I’ve done when I pick my project up again and it wasn’t easy to do with this yarn. I switched to a simple garter stitch cowl with ribbing in the top and bottom which has been easier.

I can see the different colors in the yarn where the older skein type packaging often left me with a surprising color change I hadn't bargained for.
