I got some narrow dowels to make some long knitting needles, they worked out just fine after some sanding and coating. Splinters like heck at first though. I'd like to know what wood they're made of for future projects to make sure they stain the same way as other wood.

Great sticks!
Bought these sticks to make cat toys. We used hot glue to attach out shoe strings to the sticks and the cats LOVE it! The quality of the sticks are great. Very sturdy, not gonna break :)

Used for Dot Mandalas
I have grandkids staying from time to time, and needed an artsy project they could do. Rather that buying special tools, I bundled sizes 1/8-7/8 together using tape, sawed the bundle into 4” sets, and now 6 grandkids can all press dots onto canvases for near perfect dots. Unfortunately, some smaller sizes weren’t truly round for the entire length, but most are close. No fighting for a certain size, cause they all have their own sets.
Just be sure your dowels are round the entire length, if that matters to you!
