Versatile frame, can be used with or without mat
I was looking for a 16x16 frame with no mat, but ended up finding this. Without the mats it's 18x18 inches and that ended up working well for my projects (framing a t-shirt with a large print on the front). It would look really classy just leaving the frame as is, too.

so so quality
I bought 10 of these for a gallery wall and had to exchange half of them due to marks on the mats and poor wood quality. The hangers on the back are not always consistent so when hanging in a straight line they don't line up exactly. They look good once exchanged and rehung but it was a lot of extra work. I realize that these are not the highest quality frames but I've done other gallery walls with Michaels frames and they have been fine.
