Print Project
floral table top arrangement
Step 1 |
Prepare the three paints and get a cup of water to clean your brushes and paintbrushes. Be sure to have a towel handy to dry your brush as you use it. |
Step 2 |
Cut all of the leaves from the Hosta Bush and lay them out flat. Take a sponge from the variety pack and dip gently into one of the paints, then apply to the leaf. Let dry. Do this in various places of the leaf and layer with the other paints using other sponges to create texture. Do this to five leaves to use in your tabletop arrangement to serve as a backdrop for your mudcloth pattern. |
Step 3 |
Take one of the dried leaves and use a paintbrush to create some simple line work over the sponging work. Choose one side of the leaf to apply the mudcloth print to and do this to all of your leaves. Set aside and let dry. |
Step 4 |
Take your vase, add crushed shells and then create a grid pattern across the top of the vase using the waterproof tape. Tape three stripes across the vase about ½" [1.27 cm] apart from each other going horizontally and then do the same thing vertically. Lastly, take your tape around the circumference of the vase to secure the ends of the tape down. |
Step 5 |
Create a one-sided arrangement with your ivy foliage and disperse through your vase creating a nice shape and pockets for your blooms to sit in. |
Step 6 |
Now that your foliage has been set, take your hero bloom, the fluffy pink peony, and place these three blooms at different places in the vessel while creating a triangle shape for symmetry. |
Step 7 |
To add a little spice and funkiness, add three of the red pincushion protea in between the peony blooms at a higher level on one side to create an asymmetrical shape. |
Step 8 |
Now, add your purple zinnias at different levels so they aren’t all on one plane going through the pockets you’ve created with your hero blooms. |
Step 9 |
Next, add your red wisteria in between the purple zinnias so they drape down one side. |
Step 10 |
Add your dried painted leaves to your arrangement. For balance add three leaves in the back to frame the piece and two diagonally so they stagger each other. |
Step 11 |
Add the last layer of florals, the dancing blooms. These blue dried button flowers will serve as the finishing touch so use in places where your arrangement needs a boost. Also adding them by the leaves and placing them at varying levels to create depth and to give your arrangement more movement. |
