Print Project

valentine’s day paper heart wall décor
Step 1 |
Using scrap paper that's 12" x 12 " [30.48 cm x 30.48 cm], fold it in half and draw half of a heart. Cut out to make the pattern for your base. |
Step 2 |
Now, trace your pattern onto a piece of sturdy cardboard and cut it out the shape. |
Step 3 |
Lay the base on dark pink cardstock and trace the pattern. Cut it out, then adhere it onto the cardboard base. |
Step 4 |
Cut 1" x 11" [2.54 cm x 27.94 cm] strips of cardstock from the "Flamingo" cardstock value pack. |
Step 5 |
To make rolls, wrap a paper strip around a wood skewer and adhere the end. |
Step 6 |
To make rosette flowers, cut a circle out of cardstock, then cut a spiral into the circle. Now, take the end of the spiral and roll it into the centre. You can let the paper unroll a bit to loosen the rosette. Use hot glue to secure the rosette to the circle at the end of the spiral. |
Step 7 |
To make a fringe flower, simply cut fringe all along the strip, stopping about ¼" [0.64 cm] from the edge. Now, roll the flower. Add additional fringed strips to increase the size of the flower. Fluff the fringe when you're finished. |
Step 8 |
To make the various types of teardrops, take a paper strip and adhere the two ends to one another. You can shape the teardrop as needed. Use the image as a guide for ideas on different uses of the teardrop shapes. To adhere these to the base, carefully line the bottom edge with hot glue and quickly but gently press it onto the base. |
Step 9 |
To make the layered circles, choose paper from a paper pad and punch out 2" [5.08 cm], 1½" [3.81 cm] and 1" [2.54 cm] circles. Stack them with adhesive foam squares in between each layer to give them some dimension, then decorate them with the various embellishments. |
Step 10 |
Use hot glue to adhere each element to the base and fill in spaces using the rolls or teardrops. |
Step 11 |
Finally, adhere some twine to the top, back of the heart to make a hanger. |
