Step 1

Unravel the silk cord from its card.

Step 2

Tie the end (without needle) of the cord onto one of the jump rings on your open hammered connector. Add a dab of glue to the knot and let dry.

Step 3

Thread beads onto cord as desired.
TIP: Determine the middle point where you want the hammered metal pendant to hang. Because you do not work this necklace normally from one side to the other, you start in the middle of one side, be sure to plan your beads accordingly.

Step 4

Create your pendant. Slide flat faceted sapphire bead onto a headpin. Bend the wire of the headpin in a 90° angle just above the bead. Grasp the wire, about 3/8"-½" [0.3 cm-1.3 cm] from the bend, between the jaws of your round nose pliers. Rotate the pliers toward you, keeping a firm grip on the wire, until a small loop is formed. Trim excess wire.

Step 5

Attach the sapphire bead to the bottom of a solid hammered connector with the jump ring.

Step 6

Add to the middle of your necklace with the jump ring at the top of the connector.
