First, cut about 4" [10.2 cm] piece of rope and 30" [76.2 cm] of macramé cord for the inner most arch of your rainbow.

Fold the macramé cord in half to find and mark the midpoint. Stretch out the cord and place the rope over the mark at about 1½" [3.8 cm] from one end of the rope. Wrap both ends of the cord around the rope, twist the cord and pull tight (as if you are starting a shoestring bow).

Now, make about six square knots and tie off in the back.
TIP: To make square (or paracord) knots:

• First, fold the macramé cord on the left (A) across the front of the rope, horizontally, making the shape of the number 4.
• Now, take the end of the cord on the right (B) and move it over cord A then under the rope and up through the opening of the “4” shape.
• Grasp the ends of both sides and tighten the knot over the rope. The knot will work up to the top. The cord A is now on the right and cord B is now on the left.
• For the second half of the square knot, repeat the above but in the opposite direction.

Thread the ends onto a steel yarn needle and work through a few wraps on the back, then trim the ends and add a dab of hot glue to secure ends. Set aside.
TIP: If desired, add a piece of 20 gauge wire cut to the length from the first square knot to the last square knot and slide the cords on the back, it will help form the shape of the rainbow.

Cut about 8" [20.3 cm] piece of rope and 60" [152.4 cm] of macramé cord for the middle arch of your rainbow.

Repeat Steps 2-4, but this time, make about 14 square knots.

Cut about 12" [25.4 cm] piece of rope, 72" [213.4 cm] and 6" [15.2 cm] of macramé cord for the top arch of your rainbow.

Fold the 6" [15.2 cm] cord in half. Hot glue the 4½" [11.4 cm] on each side of the fold to the middle of the rope. This leaves a 1" [2.5 cm] bend of the cord sticking up from the rope, creating the “handle”, as shown.

Repeat Steps 2-4, but this time, make about 21 square knots.
TIP: When you get to the cord, make your square knots over it like it isn’t there but be sure to allow the “handle” to remain visible.

Turn each arch over and arrange the middle arch inside the top arch. Cut a long piece of cord, thread onto your needle, tie the end of the cord onto the back of one arch and weave the cord through the cords on the back to attach the two arches.

Place the small arch inside the middle arch and repeat Step 10. Tie the end onto the back, trim and add a dab of glue to secure.

Add the keychain hook to the split loop keyring. Now, add the split loop keyring to the “handle” at the top of your rainbow.

Finally, unravel the cords hanging from the arches, brush with the comb, then trim the ends evenly.
