Step 1

MEASUREMENTS: Approx 14" x 24" [35.5 x 61 cm]

GAUGE: 10 sc and 10 rows = 4” [10 cm]


INSTRUCTIONS:

FRONT

Ch 35.

Row 1: (RS) 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Turn. (34 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc across. Turn.

Repeat (rep) last row until work from beginning (beg) measures 28” [71 cm].

Fasten off.

Step 2

BACK (Make 2 Pieces Alike)

Ribbing: Ch 7.

Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Turn. 6 sc.

Row 2: Ch 1. Working in back loops only, 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.

Rep last row until work from beg (when slightly stretched) measures 14" [35.5 cm]. Do not fasten off. Proceed as follows:

Row 1: Turn work sideways. Ch 1. Work 34 sc evenly along side of Ribbing. Turn. Place marker (PM) at end of row.

Row 2: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.

Rep last row until work from marker measures 15" [38 cm]. Fasten off.

Step 3

FINISHING:

Joining Front and Back: Overlap back pieces to match front, with ribbed sections in center to create opening to insert pillow form. With rs facing, join yarn with sl st to any corner st of pillow. Ch 1. Working through all thicknesses, work sc evenly around 4 sides of pillow, having 3 sc in each corner. Join with sl st to first sc.

Fasten off.

Insert pillow form.

Tassels (Make 16): Wind yarn around a piece of cardboard 3" [7.5 cm] wide 18 times. Tie through loops securely at one end. Cut across opposite end. Wrap yarn twice around Tassel 1" [2.5 cm] down from tied end. Fasten securely. With yarn, sew 8 tassels evenly spaced across both side edges of pillow, having one in each corner (as shown in photo).
