dip-dyed wood frames

Prices may vary instore and online.
Step 1

Wearing rubber gloves, fill a large container or stainless-steel sink with three gallons of hot tap water. Pour ½ cup of Emerald dye into the dye-bath and stir well.
TIP: Cover work area with plastic table cover and have paper towels handy to protect against any possible spills.

Step 2

If you have any scrap wood you can test the color by dipping it into the dye-bath for about 10-15 seconds, then pull it out. The color gets much more vibrant once it’s dry. Add more dye if it’s not dark enough, add more water if it’s too dark.
TIP: Hit it with a blow dryer to get a better feeling of the color.

Step 3

After you’ve found your perfect color and dip time, start dipping the picture frame. Dip bottom half of picture frames into the dye, holding for about 1-2 minutes, gradually removing.

Step 4

Once the desired color is achieved, remove from the dye-bath and set out to dry.

Step 5

Make up other dye-bath(s) using your preferred colors, such as Royal Blue and Black, as shown.

Step 6
Let your dip dyed picture frames fully dry before you add photographs or artwork.
