april showers classroom door décor
Step 1 |
First, click here for the design in Cricut® Design Space™. Cut all pieces needed for your door. |
Step 2 |
Draw a large cloud onto each of the two blue sheets of poster board, then cut out shape. Now, trace the blue cloud shape onto a white sheet of poster board. Set your blue clouds aside and re-draw the cloud shape on each of the white poster boards bringing it in about 1" [2.54 cm] from the traced pattern. Cut out the smaller white cloud shapes so they are a little smaller than your blue ones. |
Step 3 |
Paint the border of the white cloud with Ultramarine blue paint to create a dimension. Let dry. |
Step 4 |
In a well-ventilated area, use adhesive spray to adhere the white cloud on top of the blue cloud. |
Step 5 |
In a well-ventilated area, assemble your water drops using the spray adhesive. |
Step 6 |
Outline each inner teardrop shape with school glue and sprinkle with iridescent glitter to add sparkle to the drops. Let dry. |
Step 7 |
Inside your classroom, attach the clouds to the top of your door frame and position as desired. |
Step 8 |
Use tape to attach strands of curling ribbon, at different lengths, on each side of the clouds. |
Step 9 |
Use the tape to attach teardrops down the ribbon. The different heights create an illusion of falling teardrops. |
Step 10 |
Cover your door with bright blue paper. |
Step 11 |
Create a checkered pattern, with green and lime green cardstock, across the bottom of your door. This grass area should be two rows of three sheets of cardstock across, as shown. |
Step 12 |
Use the third piece of white poster board to cut out 2" [5.08 cm] strips to create the white picket fence. Cut one end of each strip to a point for the top of your fence pickets, then adhere in desired place. |
Step 13 |
Have your students each make a daisy to embellish the door: |
Step 14 |
Collect all of the daisies from your students and outline the front perimeter of each yellow circle with glue. Sprinkle a generous amount of Sunshine Yellow glitter over the glue to add sparkle to the centre of their flower bloom. Shake off excess glitter and set aside to dry. |
Step 15 |
Use adhesive tape to attach each bloom to the door. |
Step 16 |
Use a pencil to lightly draw stems from the grass area to your flowers. Connect groups of flowers like you would see in a flower garden or in nature. |
Step 17 |
Double load a brush with one green paint colour per side, then paint over the pencil marks for your stems. Let dry. |
Step 18 |
Assemble your butterfly and attach to your door where desired. |
Step 19 |
Adhere leaves and grass where desired to finish your door. |
