Kids Kwanzaa Felt Banner

First, click here to download and print the template; then cut out the pattern.

Trace the banner pattern onto felt. Cut out the shapes.
TIP: You will need three red, three green and one black banner.

Lay the banner pieces out on your work surface, left to right: red, red, red, black, green, green, green. Choose the letters to spell "KWANZAA" and glue one letter to each banner.

With the point of your scissors, snip a small slit at the top left and top right of the banner to thread the yarn through so that you can hang your banner.
TIP: ADULT: You may need to hep with this step.

Now, thread the black yarn through the slits at the top of each banner.
TIP: Make sure to give yourself plenty of yarn on either end to hang your banner.

Make a small black tassel for the bottom of the black banner by wrapping black yarn around three fingers about 15 times. Slide the loops off of your fingers and thread a piece of yarn through the loops and tie in a tight knot. Now hold all the loops in one hand and wrap a small piece of yarn around the outside top of the loops and tie a knot. Cut open the loops at the bottom of the tassel and trim them to make them straight.

Cut a slit in the point of the black banner, then thread the tassel through and tie a knot.
