Great feel in the hand
The Zen brushes feel good in my hands when panting. The smooth metal handle is a nice change from the wooden brushes of hte past.

Very soft bristles.
I used this brush to varnish a few textured paintings. It worked well since the brush is soft and gives a light touch.

Excellent brush for the value!
I bought this brush to apply the Gamblin varnish for oil paints. It's smooth and beautiful. I think I will continue to purchase this line for the rest of my oil painting materials.

I love new brushes and this brush is a good one
I like this line of brushes for acrylic paints. They're made well and wash up well. Also, nice, sleek handles.

A Love/Hate relationship
I work in acrylics and have purchased 5 Zen Royal & Langnickle long handled brushes, two flats and three brights in various sizes. I love the how the bristles have the right "spring" flexibility and a fine chiseled edge, versatile for both broad strokes and fine lines.
However- there is a structural defect. After the first 5 or 6 times using them, three of the brushes started retracting back inside the ferrule with little pressure. It's very frustrating to have to stop every couple strokes to pull the bristles back out.
This only occurs after the bristles are wet. I tried crimping the ferrule tighter on one brush with pliers and that solved the retracting bristle problem, but unfortunately splayed the shape of the bristles and ruined the integrity of the brush.
I have $20 worth of brushes that are barely usable, which is extremely disappointing to say the least. If the manufacturer corrected this problem, they have the potential of being a top rated brush.
