yarn-wrapped snowy bird ornament
Step 1 |
Draw an oval shape for the owl’s body onto a piece of recycled cardboard and cut it out. |
Step 2 |
Draw two raindrop shapes onto a piece of recycled cardboard for the wings and cut it out. |
Step 3 |
Wrap yarn around the cardboard overlapping as you go. Cut tiny notches around the outside of the oval for the first layer of yarn to attach and hold in place. As you wrap, slightly bend the oval so the owl looks like it has a tummy. Once you are finished wrapping, use glue to secure the end of the yarn to the back. Set aside. |
Step 4 |
Follow the technique from Step 3 and wrap the wings with yarn. |
Step 5 |
ADULT: Hot glue the wings to the body with the pointed-side of the wings face up and the rounded-side faced down. |
Step 6 |
Cut little triangles out of felt for the nose and ears and glue in place. Let dry. |
Step 7 |
Glue on wiggle eyes. Let dry. |
Step 8 |
Bend two chenille pipe cleaners into feet and glue to the base of the owl. Let dry. |
Step 9 |
Finally, cut a piece of yarn and tie a knot on the end. Tuck the knot into the top of the owl with glue and let dry to make a hanger. |
