I found this thermometer to be reliable and easy to clean by hand, with a large helper handle that made it easy to grab even when using high heat.

I bought the candy thermometer so I didn't have to guess when it was time to take it off of the stove. I was surprised how well the candy turned out by simply adding the thermometer to my tools of the trade.
