Quick and easy to use
I'm trying to do daily watercolor sketches to improve my skills. These cards are a good size and so far the paper seems to hold up well with my style of mixed media work - I always struggle with bending and rippling, these do bow a bit but not so much that its a problem.

Worked well for monotypes
I used this paper to pull monotype prints using acrylic paints and a gelatin plate and also watercolor monotypes using a plexiglass plate. I was reluctant to spend money on Arches while in the process of learning a new technique, and this paper worked wonderfully. I felt free to experiment without worrying about "wasting" expensive materials.

Good for Botanicals and tight watercolor painting
The reason there are such a wide range of reviews is that this paper is not meant for all types of watercolor painting. This is hot press paper. If you want to do lots of techniques, use lots of water, and have a really lose painting, this paper will not work for you. It isn’t heavy enough. It will buckle and the water will pool on the paper. For that kind of work, you need cold press paper. But if you want to do botanicals, or if you paint with only a small amount of water, this paper is the best I’ve found at a decent price. Other hot press papers are $1/page.

GREAT. PAINTING. PAPER
Got my first pad as a gift. Didn't use it, thought it was the usual non Arches paper. I was wrong! Great practice and sketching paper. Used for painting and cards. Holds water well without buckling for at least 3 washes. Great value. Will buy again and again.

Not the best but usable
This paper is a bit difficult to use for watercolour because it doesn’t properly absorb water. What I mean by this is that the water forms a layer on top of the paper and takes a while to absorb. This becomes a problem especially with wet on wet techniques. I won’t recommend this for watercolour painting however, since it’s quite thick and generously sized so you can repurpose it for other medias.

In general, its just okay
To be completely honest the paper isn´t that bad, but i did run into some problems while using it though. Overall the paper did hold up on some heavy washes of watercolor and didn´t warp too much to the point where it became a problem. The problem I did have was the fact the pages kept on falling out, I ended up just taping some pages back into the sketchbook while the other pages that fell out i just stuffed them back in. Overall, if you want to buy the sketchbook just know that the paper is good quality but it will fall out.
