three mandala liquid clay necklace

Learn to create this beautiful mandala necklace with liquid clay!
Step 1

Protect your work surface with a disposable cover, such as wax paper (or disposable foil).
TIP: Work on a metal baking sheet (wax paper or foil). Uncured liquid polymer clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately. Stir liquid clay completely. Wash hands with soap and water (or baby wipes) after use.

Step 2

Fill the mandala mold with all three shades of liquids at one time.

Step 3

Squirt a small amount of Gold liquid clay in the middle of the medium-sized mandala. Spread the Gold liquid clay to the edge of the medium mandala, being careful not to get any of the Gold in the other cavities. Squeegee off excess by squeegeeing away from the other shapes in the mold.
TIP: You can use your finger to spread the liquid clay in a circular pattern so that you can keep it exactly where it is intended.

Step 4

Add white liquid clay to only the large mandala shape and smear it around with your finger to make sure all the little areas are filled. Squeegee excess away.

Step 5

Repeat Steps 2-4 with the third mandala shape using navy metallic liquid clay.

Step 6
Preheat your oven to 275 °F [130 °C] for liquid shades and bake the mold.
TIPS:
  • Bake for 15 minutes if you are using the liquids as a glaze or in thin pieces less than ¼" [6 mm]. For thicker pieces that are ¼" [6 mm] or above, bake for 30 minutes. If you are baking on a ceramic tile, then you will also need to bake at 30 minutes since it will take longer for the tile to heat up. This will ensure the proper fusing of the liquid material.
  • It is important to use an oven thermometer when you bake the liquids so that you can ensure your oven is at the correct temperature.
  • Do not microwave the liquids.
Step 7

Once the mold is completely cool, gently flex it to release the molded shapes. Arrange the shapes as you would like them for your necklace.

Step 8

Connect the shapes together as shown with jump rings.

Step 9

Add the tassel at the bottom. String onto the chain with the clasp.
