sunflower stenciled container
Add some Fall style to this galvanized container just in time for the season, then add floral, greenery, or dried stems to complete the arrangement.
Step 1 |
Tape off the top of the container with painter’s tape leaving a 1" [2.54 cm] rim. |
Step 2 |
Place another row of painter’s tape above and below the wood band. |
Step 3 |
Paint two layers of paint in the center between the painter’s tape and above the tape around the rim. Carefully remove the tape and let completely dry. TIP: For best results wait 24 hours before doing the stencil. |
Step 4 |
Place the adhesive stencil over the middle-painted band. Apply a thin coat of white paint with a stencil brush. Do not remove the stencil yet. TIP: When you stencil over white paint, your final coat is truer to the original color. |
Step 5 |
Stencil the Gold paint over the white. Remove the stencil once you have a good covering of paint. Let dry. TIP: If you plan for this arrangement to be seen at any angle, you may want to repeat the stenciling on the opposite side of the container. |
Step 6 |
Cut some floral foam to fit in the bottom of the container to shorten the inside space, so your arrangement stays tall. |
Step 7 |
Fill the container with your floral stems, greenery or dried grasses and set on a mantel or table. Share your project photos with #MakeItWithMichaels |
