I used initially regular drawing paper. My fellow student’s drawings were much more impactful with better tonal values. She is also a beginner like me and I discovered she used the Strathmore 300 series Charcoal paper. I switched to the Strathmore 300 series Charcoal paper and my drawings also popped with more impactful tonal range. For charcoal medium, I am sold on this paper!
