sharpie® watercolour coasters

Before you kick your lackluster coffee table to the curb, try this crafty DIY trick to spruce it up with bold and brilliant Watercolour Coasters using Sharpie® markers.
Step 1

Colour the first tile using your favourite bold, brilliant Sharpie® pens. Cover the full face of the coaster in different shapes and patterns. Repeat for the rest of the white coasters but make each one a little different from the last.
TIP: Combine dark and light pen shades to add depth and dimension to your design.

Step 2

Use an eye dropper (or stirring spoon) to drop small pools of rubbing alcohol onto the tile to create swirling circle patterns. Be careful not to add too many drops at a time so your inks do not blur together more than you'd like.
TIP: If you think you've added too much alcohol, double-down by adding even more drops to form a fresh pool on the coaster top to make your design new again.

Step 3

Let the coasters dry for 30 minutes to an hour.

Step 4

One at a time, hold dry coasters at least 6" [2.4 cm] away and lightly spray with a spray fixative. Spray in layers, 1-2 minutes apart to set for best results.
