Make these fun earrings from Toho® Japanese glass seed beads. The seed bead diamond is a great shape to pair with trendy tassels for your Holiday wardrobe!

Print Project

Step 1

Thread your needle onto a 108" [274.3 cm] length of beading thread.

Step 2

Add two beads to your thread. Slide them down to about 6" [15.24 cm] from the end. Run your needle and thread down through first bead in the opposite direction. Weave thread through both beads again for a tight hold.
TIP: When you pull the thread taut, the beads will arrange themselves parallel to each other.

Step 3

Add another bead then run the needle through the previous bead in the opposite way it previously exited. The new bead will “snap” into place parallel to the first two. Run your needle and thread up through the new bead. Repeat until you have a total of thirteen beads.

Step 4

Turn your work so the working thread is coming out of the top left bead. Pick up a bead with your needle, run it below the “bridge” of thread that straddle over the second and the third beads. Run thread back up through the second bead, down through the first bead and back up through the second.
TIP: By skipping the first “bridge” and starting with the second creates a decrease. As you work each row up, the beads will continue to decrease to create the triangle shape of the top of your earring.

Step 5

Pick up a bead. Run your needle and thread through the next “bridge” of thread straddling the next set of beads and back up the same bead. Repeat across the top of the beads.

Step 6

Repeat Steps 4-5 until you complete the row of two.
TIP: Turn your work with each row, if desired.

Step 7

Now, slide your needle and thread down through the beads along the outside edge until your needle exits from the bottom of the outside most bead on the same side.

Step 8

Now, flip your work and repeat the same technique of descending rows to mirror the top half; however, on this half, finish at a row of one bead instead of two.

Step 9

Weave in thread ends and trim excess.

Step 10

Open the jump ring on your tassel pendant and thread it through the beads toward the bottom of your seed bead diamond shape. Close the jump ring.

Step 11

At the top, add a fishhook ear wire with a jump ring.

Step 12

Repeat Steps 1-11 for a second earring.
