sculpey iii® glitter popsicle ring dish
Step 1 |
Protect your work surface with a disposable cover, such as wax paper (or disposable foil). |
Step 2 |
Start with clean hands, unwrap, and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay through a conditioning machine. |
Step 3 |
Roll a snake of white clay approximately ¼" thick [.6 cm] by 4" long [10.2 cm]. Roll a snake of yellow clay the same size. |
Step 4 |
Twist the two snakes together. Fold in half. Roll and twist again. Repeat this process a few times to marble the two clays together. |
Step 5 |
Roll the marbled clay into a ball and then flatten with your roller to approximately 1/8" thick [.3 cm] sheet. Use the second smallest cutter to cut a circle out of your marbled clay sheet. Smooth the edges of your circle. Press the circle on to the base of your glass/metal dish. Push out any air bubbles from the middle out. |
Step 6 |
Preheat oven to 275 °F [135 °C] and bake at 275 °F [135 °C] for 15 minutes. Once cooled, pop the marble dish off the glass dish. Set aside.
|
Step 7 |
Roll a ball of pink glitter clay approximately 2" [5.1 cm] in size. Shape this into a rectangular shape like a popsicle. Use the side of a Sharpie® marker or regular marker to create two indents on either side of the popsicle. Flatten the bottom of the popsicle to look like it is melting. Press it onto your marbled dish that you made to make sure it looks right. Once satisfied, remove from the dish and set the popsicle aside while you make the sprinkles. |
Step 8 |
To make the sprinkles, roll tiny thin snakes of the following clays: purple, pink glitter, yellow, white, orange, string bean, turquoise and hot red. Cut little equal sized pieces from these snakes and roll them into tiny balls. Press the “sprinkles” onto the bottom portion of the popsicle and the melted portion. Stick the popsicle stick down the middle of the popsicle. |
Step 9 |
Bake in the oven at 275 °F [135 °C] for 15 minutes. Allow to cool. |
Step 10 |
Super glue the popsicle onto the little yellow and white marbled dish. Let glue dry completely. |
